Sound Vibrational Medicine

Sound Healing

Sound Healing is based on the principle that everything in the Universe is made of vibration. Sound Healing is possible as we have the understanding that our human bodies are held together by vibration. It is the oldest form of healing and will most likely be one of the more popular ways of healing in the future. It can be compared to a deep massage but at the molecular level.

There are three sound/vibrational healing tools that I currently work with- Tuning Forks, Himalayan Singing Bowls, Gongs and Tok Sen.
It has been found that musical vibrations make their impact upon the entire body, being picked up by the nerves, spinal column, and even by the bones. This is why people who are deaf can react to music. It has also been demonstrated that music affects the pulse, respiration, and blood pressure; but it’s deepest effects, and those from which most of it’s curative properties are derived, are mental and emotional.

Tuning Forks

Just like tuning a musical instrument, tuning forks can help realign our vibration and bring us back to optimal balance when we have “gone out of tune.” When there is disease or dis-ease, that is an indication of disharmony, disruption or disorder on a vibratory level.

Applying sound healing to the physical and subtle body helps open the energetic pathways where the Qi or natural life force flows. As a result, energy blocks are removed. When Qi flow is increased, the body comes into homeostasis which true profound healing begins.

The tuning forks I use are from Ohm Therapeutics which are made of high medical grade aluminum. I work with octaves of the earth/ohm frequency 136.1 hz which helps restore balance, establish homeostasis and promote healing. I also have the octaves of  moon frequencies 201.42 hz to gently penetrate deeper to further open and disperse obstruction energetically, to allow for more fluidity and exploration in the emotional, unconscious mind and personal awareness.

How does it work?

Tuning forks are used off the body and directly on the body. They have specific frequencies and may be applied on acupuncture points or directly on muscles and joints.

Himalayan (Tibetan) Singing Bowls

Singing bowls are sitting bells that originated thousands of years ago in the Himalayas with an unclear history. Made originally by pre-buddhist cultures/religion, they may have been created as mundane, daily use serving bowls that happened to make beautiful sounds. It is said that they had been secretly used in monasteries and temples for spiritual ceremonies, meditation and shamanic practices. Somehow the bowls have attracted a lot of attention from the West since the 60s-70s and now became a widely known sound healing tool. These metal bowls can produce mystical sounds with a variety of sound waves which can be referenced to the sound of OM. This can create brain entrainment to promote more harmony, deeper meditative states, and healing- on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.

How does it work?

Singing bowls are striked or played around the rim with a mallet to produce the warm tones. They are placed on or off the body, where one can sense their vibration throughout the body as well as be immersed in the harmonic sound current.

What can I expect during the session?

Very similar to tuning forks, see above.

With singing bowls, sound is more audible and there are more variety in tones in comparison, whereas with tuning forks, vibration is more prevalent.

You would benefit more if you bring your full attention to the sound, allow and follow it. Notice how it affects your senses- physical sensations, energy flow, mental thoughts, inner vision, messages, emotional changes, sense of beingness, etc.

Benefits:

Very similar to tuning forks, see above.

Where can I learn this?

We offer a service called Singing Bowl Consultation, where you would receive a mini one-on-one sound therapy experience, some background on Himalayan singing bowls, basic instructions in how to play them and use them for yourself and others, and time to intuitively select bowls for purchase.

Are there Himalayan Singing Bowls for sale?

Yes, they are for sale at the studio. Bowls are high quality, hand beaten, plain and are genuinely made in Nepal.

toksen tok sen healing tool from Northern Thailand available in Vancouver.

……….
Tok Sen

A traditional shamanic tool from Northern Thailand, Tok Sen is used like a hammer and chisel rhythmically on the receiver’s body which creates a healing vibration and sound working deeply through the fascia, muscles and energy lines. A healing mantra may be recited silently which is also inscribed on the tool. It can help clear out blockages and negative energy, ease muscle tension, improves circulation and nerve problems. Not a tool to be used on its own in an entire session but complimentary to a massage session. Definitely highly relaxing!

What can I expect during the session?

Rhythmic wood tapping along the body which can either be gentle and relaxing, or harder and louder with the intention to break up tension/blockages (appropriate for people who are drawn to deep massage). The sound is audible and vibration can be felt in the body.

Benefits:

Similar to tuning forks- see above.
